Caring for a loved one with Dementia can be challenging and sometimes lonely. However, when you use our respite care services our knowledgeable and caring team are here to support you.
Below our Owner & General Manager, Debbie Leyland shares her tips for caregivers.
- Keep to a routine wherever possible. Bathe, dress, and eat at the same times each day.
- When dressing or bathing, allow the person to do as much as possible.
- Plan activities that the person enjoys and try to do them at the same time each day.
- Serve meals in a consistent, familiar place and give the person enough time to eat.
- Above all be gentle and respectful. Talk through each step as you help the person eat or bathe.
